Can't open IE?

I'm using Windows XP SP2 with IE7. Every time I try to open the browser I get "Page cannot be displayed" with the following further information.

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

Internet connectivity has been lost.

The website is temporarily unavailable.

The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.

The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.

If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

I can use AOL and Firefox, but hate AOL, and Firefox is really slow for me. Also, I've just re-installed Windows, so I don't understand what's going on.

Can't open IE?violin

Open Internet, type into the address bar: google.co.uk. and press enter. If you see google next click on the the black arrow on the icon of the house and click "add or change home page" Click the top one "use this as my home page". Next restart Internet explorer simply by clicking the red cross top right and then go back to Internet explorer. You just needed a home page as the other one had ended.
